About Us
It all started for my own beach and sailboat dog because I was tired of rust stained fur, seized leash clips and lack of durability.

Creating saltwater proof gear for your dog and you. Rust can be frustrating and messy. Seized leash clips are no fun and rotten thread can be an unsafe surprise.
The coastal environment requires different materials. I handcraft each piece with rust proof stainless steel hardware, marine grade nylon webbing, UV resistant thread, premium contour clips, adjusters & strap-keepers. The ends are fused then triple or box stitched. I use woven jacquard ribbon which has much better color stay and wear better than grosgrains. Nautical & coastal designs or basic webbing dog gear for the salty dog and owner. Also a new line of repurposed sailcloth & spinnaker sails with rope leashes.
Check out my store and upgrade you and your dog's beach experience! Saltwater proof: resilient to rust & rot, durable & breathable.

Our Story
Wet Dog was inspired by and named after Mootz, my original "Wet Dog", a purebred Cruzan Coconut Retriever, AKA a rescue.
We lived in the Caribbean, spending time on the beach then living on boats. She had a white chest that was stained by rust a kind of an orange color and her collars were always falling apart. My first modification was a boat shackle to replace her collar D-ring in 1998.
I was frustrated with the rust & rot that happened to regular materials in the coastal environment, so I started using more marine materials and added features I wanted in a collar. Finally, I found a lasting combination of functionality and durability. After this came other gear styles and the fun part of ribbon fluff. Now, here we are, many years and states from the beginning still loving my sewing machine, the beach and enjoying it all with my dog.
I now live in St. Augustine, FL with Piper SaltyDog, pictured above.
